The Royal Victoria Hotel in the High Street
This photo from the early 1900s shows the Grade II listed Royal Victoria Hotel located near Swanage Pier on the eastern end of the High Street.
The central block is recorded as being built in the 16th century as a manor house and the front elevation dates to the 18th century. The hotel, formed by William Morton Pitt from the original manor house, was visited by Queen (then Princess) Victoria in 1833 and renamed in her honour.
