Taken in the early 1900s this photo shows the High Street near the top of Church Hill with the Swanage United Reformed Church to the right of the photo.
Opposite the top of Church Hill is a shop with signs for Financial News, Colman’s Mustard, News of the Word and many more.
Further along the road is the Black Swan Pub at the entrance to Townsend Road.
These buildings have been replaced with the current Spar shop and residential houses and flats.
