On the wide beach at Swanage
This photo from the late 1800s shows Swanage beach at the southern end of Shore Road.
The stone sea wall was not yet built and Shore Road is still a rough track leading to the North end of Swanage,.
Several families are enjoying the wide beach and sands.
This photo was scanned from a book called “Picturesque Swanage Photographic Views of Swanage, Durlston, Studland” and was published at Burts Stores, Swanage which was in the lower High Street.
