Monkey Beach and Pier Head Cafe
The Monkey Beach near Swanage Pier and the lower High Street in the mid 1960s.
On the left of the photo is the Pier Head Café which was demolished in 2019 to make way for flats.
One notable missing landmark on this photograph is the Mowlem Theatre at the southern end of Shore Road.
The original Mowelm Building was built in 1863 and stood for over 100 years, it was replaced in 1967 with the current theatre building which dates this photograph to between 1964 and 1967.
