Looking north along the promenade and beach in the late 1800s towards Ballard Down and the Purbeck Hills.
On the beach is a row of Linningtons Hygienic Bathing Tents for Ladies with Whites Bathing Saloon for Gentlemen further along the beach.
On Shore Road where are families enjoying a walk along the pavement and there are horses and carts in the road.
