Derrick Crane lifting stone at Langton Matravers
This photo from the early 1900s shows a wooden Derrick Crane in a quarry near Langton Matravers in Dorset.
The cranes were used to lift large blocks of Purbeck Stone from the quarry workings to the surface to be cut and shipped to customers.
