Lifeboat Station and Paddle steamers
This photo dated 1902 shows the Lifeboat Station in the foreground and the fisherman’s huts on the shoreline.
Beyond these is the Wellington tower which has its original spire fitted which was removed in 1904.
In the distance are the two wooden Victorian Piers with two paddle steamers moored alongside.
Beyond the pier you can see the open fields in the centre of the image with the fields behind the beach having very few houses at this time.
